The problem I identified was that many people would like to travel but can not due to cost, time, distance, etc. Travel is considered an activity of the wealthy but with Virtual Reality it does not have to be that way. Using virtual reality of video game engine technology and 3d scans of historic sites it should be possible to create realistic representations that people can visit right from their computers.
My solution has several steps and would be costly and timely to implement. However I believe there is a large opportunity here so the effort put in could potentially be worth it. First I need to do more research on Virtual Reality technology to see if we have reached the point it would be possible to reconstruct historic sites in it. There is a product called Realities that is already meant to do this but receives negative reviews due to its clumsiness, lack of sites, and bad graphics. I believe it would be better to give up on VR and instead use a traditional video game engine if there are to many technical restraints. Video game engine technology is very advanced and I am confident in its ability to create an extremely realistic render.
Then by scanning structures it should be possible to create extremely accurate 3d models that could be imported into the game. People who wished to visit these sites would be able to walk around the exact replica of the place on their home computers.
Hey! I think that if you make a good quality virtual replica of different sites that the product will definitely be given attention. I think that it would need a lot of advertising at first but once the word got out it would pick up customers fast. It would offer something that I have not seen another product offer before! You can get a good product out there to begin with and then improve it even more once you receive customer feedback.
ReplyDeleteThis is extremely creative especially in the aspect of school where students studying historical sites can use to experience it without actually experiencing it. Unfortunately, to travel and visit the true beauty the world has to offer. This is definitely possible, especially with the rapid advancements in technology. I don't know how it would be though because although it may seem realistic that thought will always be that it wasn't so for some people would not give that fulfillment. But I think as a learning objective it would be a great advancement.

Virtual Reality technology has been issued recently, and i am pretty sure they are in progress to make it better, i mean like graphic problems or other programs for human's sense. We have already had this kind of product on early 2017, the Pokemon Go, which was AR not VR, but I guess this suggested the potential power of this industry! Keep working on!
